SEXY KILLER

Spain and Midnight Madness

Let me count the different genres or filmmakers who influenced Screen play writer Pablo cabezas and director Miguel Marti. Well there is pulp fiction and ending with the bride of Frankenstein.

The pop technic- color and the different version's of the song Barbie girl was a hoot from beginning to end...

The actress Marcarena Gomez is truly sexxy and a kickass killer who takes no prisoners in her quest for fresh blood or the thrill of killing for the sake of killing..

Finally a female hero and I don't mean villain that was strong powerful and never allowed herself to be the victim... Her sassy dialogs and breaking the third wall to get to the audience was totally inspiring and we girls can't wait for the sexxy killer Barbie doll...

Let me just say this movie, for me was the best midnight madness I've seen so far this year and I finally got my faith back in the programmer Collin Geddes...

I hope this film gets a distributer and gets a wide release it was fun and sexxy to watch...

Eden Log

Sci-fi French style

If the truth be told I took a great nap during this film all those steepness nights during the other days had finally caught up with me .

What I say or heard my fellow midnight madness pals argue over this film is the visual take that the director Frank Vestiel used to make this film was it animated, or some new process of film making to show the dark sinister world , the character Tolbiac inhabits.

The audience goes through the Journey as if we too are crawling through many layers of levels and tunnels to unravel a great mystery..

At the Q&A the director was asked if he was influenced by the video game donkey kong at first I too as well the director found the question funny but after seeing it again and not sleeping through it I see why the question was asked....

Sometimes the si-fi is either a hit or miss at midnight madness this time it was a miss...

Martyrs

MARTYRS BY Pascal Laugier

This is funnier if you read or speak out loud in a french accent not Quebec but Parisian French I was depressed when making this film and I wanted the audience to feel the torture that the characters were going through and experience the horror as well.

Well monsieur Laugier you have accomplished your goal... This film was band in france and I understand why the horrific scenes that happened to the 2 main actresses Morjana Ataoui and Myle`ne Jampano was truly hard to take at times and turned me off of French horror...

The si-fi, religious pseudo-cult as evil version of the rich society who have no regard for human life or children's life especially women ..

If you like your gore extra visual and can live through the torture scenes then MARTYRS IS FOR YOU.

The Burrowers

Western Ghost/ Monster Movie

The Burrowers by Jt Petty is not a new discovery he came to midnight madness back in o6 with s&m.
Another western was also intro deuced to the midnight madness crowd do u remember Takashi Miike film SUKIYAKI WESTERN DJANGO si-fi ,blood lust and greed. If not I do anyway THE BURROWERS have scary sounding creatures and visually scarry ones too.

This was the first film which gave me legit feelings of freight. I jumped every time the sound of the burrow creatures were moving and actually screamed at the first kill...

The description in the book claims to be a terror take on John fords the searchers but the political message intended or not intended reminded me of the original George Romero night of the living dead where of course the black man would survive the zombies and be killed by the racist town police.

So when the only first nation or Indian tribe that can give everyone the secret to kill the burrower creatures they too with the black guy played by sean Patrick Thomas is killed by the sadistic northern or southern who cares army man in the end .

No one survives racism or the burrowers you are left wanting more....

Acolytes

Jet

Jet is a rock band from Melbourne, Australia whose debut album Get Born released in 2003 has so far sold over a million copies throughout the world. The garage rock band from down under draw their influences from rock bands such as The Beatles, The Kinks, AC/DC, Oasis and The Rolling Stones. more...

Ah to be a young teenager again an Acolytes to say the least. If you find a dead body or dead girl leave it alone, should be the mantra for dead girl, and for this movie.

The first thing that caught my senses was the explosive use of sound used in this film from one girls eye pod and the music she is listening to , to the silence of the serial killer's deaf wife.

At first I thought the film was going to be a straight forward revenge story about 2 boys getting revenge on the local pedophile in the suburb kind of story, but in reality or film land 3 storylines were being told but only one was fully invistedgated on screen so minor plot problem asside.

I kind like this film and will look for it on video just so i can find the cool soundtrack that will surely be added to the film.

The film was an Aussie thriller with little twists and predictable ending but sometimes predictable is not so bad....

Serial killer thriller in the suburbs of Australia hey it could happen remember Paul Bern dado and his wife Karla holmecka our Canadian version of serial killers.

sharp 1 out to party day 5

Not Quite Hollywood

Day 4 reel to real

Not Quite Hollywood by Mark Hartley is a cineastes buffet of Australian genre cinema of the seventies and eighties.

I discovered some directors and films I will have to go the local cool video strore no big chains allowed to see some the films mentioned in this documentry. I liked all the hollowood guest stars the director was able to get to talk too, about the Ozploitation of films from the land down under from Jamie lee Curtis to Quentin Tarantino.

The car crashes women or chicks with big boobs and serial killer types showed us the different side to austrialian films and actors directors an era that might have been forgotten if not for this upstart director Mark Hartley who took the time to find the directors and producers of the movies from a special time in austrlian movie history.

Names like brian trenchard-smith and steve railsback were able to show up in T.O. and answer questions at the Q& A .

The story is now told , go out and ask for these films The man from Hong Kong, Alvin Purple, Patrick, Turkey shoot , road games and mad dog morgan.

If Not ask for a retrospective to be added to the cinematheque of Ont jack man hall ago or local revue theatre like the bloor or the royal...

ok sharp 1 off to party now.

Dead girl

Director's Marcel Sarmiento & Gadi Harel has brought the audience to sex slave torture but why is it not so funny.

Premise 2 boys teens skip school go to local abandoned mental hospital and discover a dead naked girl or so they think.

The screenplay is written by Trent Haaga one sick puppy who added the twist of having the dead girl be a ----- I can't ruin it for it you can I, you will have to see the movie for your self...

While watching this movie these three thoughts came to mind 1. I hate this movie . 2. this is rivers edge gone bad and 3. Stand by me / Stephen king the body...

Moral struggles aside the actress was either brave or a porn star cause she had to be naked throughout the movie. Turns out Candice Accola is the next up and coming actress she was brave .

The interesting thing is visually the movie looks great especially since it was completely shot digitally using the Codex "tape less" system you really couldn't tell.....

So coming of age story done through the point of view of 2 apathetic teens. Rickie (Shiloh Fernandez) and Jt (Noah segan) represent the prettiness and the ugly-ness of being a teen.

Dead girl is twisted but I don't know if its too funny... I guess it 's a guy thing.

So hey are you truly going geek male style for this discovery.... or what females be-ware I'm not a feminist and thank goodness otherwise I wouldn't be able to handle this movie....

The thrills and chills are at a minimum sharp tongue 1 pah is still waiting to be scared.....

Death metal @ Midnight

DETROIT METAL CITY

J-pop/hiphop and Death metal rule the airwaves and the minds of japan's youth. Johannes Klauser 2nd has come from the hell to destroy you. Toshio Lee has visually brought audience to the era of kiss ruling the airwaves and corrupting the youth of that time.

Mika Omori has brought Kiminor Wakasugi manga series to life through live action..

The jokes were either in your face or the music would be..

The duality of the Kenichi Matsuama playing both parts of 2 opposite spectrum's in Tokyo brings the comedy either 2 ways slaps tick or subtle many times during dmc the audience was given privy to the world of death metal music being satirized.

Gene Simmons's guest staring in a cameo role as the villain gives the movie a sitcom feel but it was great to see him pass the torch and not act too campy.

I laughed and sung ALONG TO THE TREnDY SOUND OR death metal rock and roll.

The movie dmc is great musical discovery but I wonder how midnight madness it was..

eye catching yes, sonically interesting yes, easy to follow most definitely,.

Detroit Metal City look for it online listen to it if you dare....
